DIRECTIONS4PARTNERS VIRTUAL 2020 - SUMMARY - Day 3

Yesterday, We took part in the third and last day of the DIRECTIONS4PARTNERS VIRTUAL 2020 conference. On the second day, we could learn about the integration of Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365 Business Central, get to know the necessary BC applications for production and distribution, or learn more about the integration of Dynamics 365 BC with PowerBi. There was also a session on how to engage potential customers, build trust and conclude transactions remotely, we also learned 10 helpful tips for beginner users of Business Central. More details on the first and second days of EMEA 2020 can be found in previous publications.

Daniel Stafa – Junior Dynamics NAV/BC Consultant

During the session titled “Telling your story in Microsoft Teams” Mike Borg Corona showed how we can use the integration of Microsoft Teams with Business Central when solving everyday problems between colleagues.

In order to better illustrate the improvements of Teams, the speaker played the role of two employees talking about a problem with the order. As we can see, the order appeared in the discussion along with the appropriate reference, so that you can immediately locate the owner of the order, and he can correct the error without leaving Teams.

I started the third day of the Directions EMEA 2020 conference with the afternoon sessions. “HOW TO MAKE DYNAMICS 365 BUSINESS CENTRAL + POWER PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS MORE ATTRACTIVE?” it is a continuation and also the third part of a topic that was discussed during the previous 2 days. This session was intended to encourage Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power Platform partners to deliver even more attractive presentations, attract more attention from potential customers and ultimately win with competing ERP / CRM software.

The second session of the day I attended was “THE POWER PLATFORM: BUILD YOUR OWN SOLUTION” led by Gerald Steuer-Pernsteiner. He tried to convey that Power Platform and Dynamics 365 for Sales provide advanced customization and application development functions for creating complex applications without writing a single line of code. Model-driven applications such as Dynamics 365 for Sales run on a framework called Microsoft Dataflex Pro (formerly Common Data Service). This includes many other features besides data storage. During this session, participants got a brief technical overview of the customization options and quickly learned how to create their own application.

The last session in which I had the opportunity to participate during Directions EMEA 2020 was a speech by Michael Hellingso Svinth and Thomas Sondergaard Jensen entitled ” PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN: MODERN CLIENT PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS ”. They presented how the Dynamics 365 Business Central engineering team worked on improving and implementing the performance of modern customers. They shared their knowledge of how they monitor the performance of the cloud browser client and reviewed the latest client performance features. This session is a play-back of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Launch Event.

As the biggest improvement, the presenters found faster functioning of pages in BC thanks to caching their metadata.

In summary, Directions EMEA 2020 provided all participants with a lot of information and industry knowledge. For the first time, this event was organized online, so that participants and speakers could not meet and experience this great event together, live. However, this form also has its advantages! We were able to move between sessions that were interesting to us and interested at every moment, which would be impossible in normal form and thus we could learn more first-hand than ever. We’re waiting for Directions to surprise us next year. 😊
